My cursive has always been pretty horrible, and I’d like to make it look a bit nicer. I love the look of Spencerian penmanship, and I really like that this book is teaching it through the Declaration of Independence. I did have some trouble with the practice though, mainly because there’s only one practice line to trace over. However, I think that’s because I’m not very used to this style of writing and that if I had a little more experience with it, that wouldn’t have mattered so much. I do like that you have enough space to really master a line of text, and that there are guides to help with the height and spacing. I like that the book lies fairly flat, because even lying on my bed, I was able to get a fairly good line of print. I also like that you can easily tear out the pages to practice on a firmer surface (or take it with you so you’re not carrying to book around!). Above all, I must reiterate how much I like that the text chosen here is the Declaration of Independence. We don’t interact with it regularly and this was a cool way to read the document.

This is a great book, especially for anyone that does calligraphy or wants to start learning. Spencerian Penmanship is a style of calligraphy used in the Declaration of Independence. Since cursive writing is no longer used in school, this would also be perfect for children. The book lies flat so it can easily be used for practice. Pages are perforated for easy removal. Sufficient space is given for practice and one line is shaded. The shaded line could be traced over to learn the technique, slant and spacing for each letter. Also, on the practice lines, are lightly shaded slanted lines to use as a guide. As you practice this style, you will also be refreshing your memory of the Declaration of Independence.

Great practice book! I love learning the Declaration of Independence words at the same time. My 12 year old is practicing along with me! I like how the pages lay flat and are perforated so you can tear them out. Nice quality, too.

My interest in Spencerian Penmanship started at an early age as I stared at the Coca-Cola logo. At a young age, I knew this was not the way I was being taught “cursive” writing in school, and this was much more interesting to me. I traced that Coca-Cola logo and practiced, but I didn’t have enough letters to really do much real writing. When I saw The Declaration of Independence, I found another document that I wanted to copy. This turned out to be an impossible task for an elementary student. Now, at this late age, I finally find Spencerian Penmanship Practice. Each phrase from The Declaration of Independence (187 pages) comes with an excellent model at the top of each page, a tracing line and ample room for your own practice. I am so happy to have found this book, check out my practice photo! If you have this interest, this book is for you.

Given its price and size, one would expect this book to contain a great deal of useful information. In fact, it reads like a sales and marketing press release. The writing is also very disjointed. There is a great deal of repetition as well as jumping from topic to topic with little or no connection. Definitely not worth the money.

This book's orientation is different from many other SAP books. The target segment for this book appears to be prospective SAP Consultants aspiring to be involved in implementation of projects, personnel in the Implementing organisation whose services will be used in implementation and end user. These days many people get trained/ acquire knowledge in SAP modules such as FI-CO, Logistics, SD, HRMS, etc by attending training courses in various Computer Training Institutes. Some even work as Trainee Consultants in some organisations. The real-life Implementation experience is all together different from what these people learn in Institutes. I feel that this book will be certainly helpful to fill such gap between real-life Implementation exp and learnings. At least, the book will enable the reader what to do when he is put in the project for the first time. Good points abt this book: 1. It gives good view of R/3 architecture 2. Giving ideas about possible Implementation issues that can arise 3. Inputs for preparing a good SAPper CV 4. Employment opportunities in SAP. Negative points: Jack of all, master of none! Inadequate coverage of various modules, which is understandable!Conclusion: The user level is mentioned as Intermediate to Advanced in the back cover, but I feel that this book is only suitable to Beginners to Intermediate level.

Someone mentioned that it is a thousand page brochure. Right on the (wasted) money sir! I bought this book to gain some insight into SAP. But this book was a great disappointment. Words don't come to me to describe my disgust after wasting 75 dollars on this book. Just because SAP knowledge isn't easily available, people like me keep wasting our money on whatever is available in the market. I have learned my lesson, now I spend a couple of hours sitting in Barnes and Noble before making a decision to buy.The only reason I give it one star is ... there is no option to give a zero star.

"Using SAP R/3" is a good 2nd book to get if you are a manager, and you want to know what the individual modules can do, but you don't really want to know how to configure the system. A much better 1st book for business managers is "Implementing SAP R/3, 2nd edition" by Bancroft, Seip, and Sprengel (ISBN 0-13-889213-X). This book gives you a a better introduction to SAP R/3, and a big picture view that a business manager might be looking forward too. A future edition of "Using SAP R/3" could be better if there were more information on the SAP R/3 Reference Model.

this is a book totally useless. It tells you nothing! 1. I doubt the author is from Germany because I got big language problem when trying to understand the sentences. The author loved to make long sentences which confused me all the time. 2. The author just tells you what SAP can do, this is absolutely not what I want. People can learn this from newspaper or review or advertisement. what people want to know is how to use SAP or how to implement, install it. actually the book tells nothing. 3. the quality is bad. I got a book, of which 200 pages were printed in Yellow paper, 100 pages were printed in grey paper. The index on each page of chapter 17 was printed as "chapter 18". 4. I am totally disappointed. now I know why SAP is difficult to learn, the reference book made so!

Lame result of an ambitious and wordy project. The book targets a too broad audience and in the process it misses much of its value. Nevertheless, this book has a virtue as a good source of reference for SAP project management and business process overviews.

I have been using this book to plan our Camino for this fall and I like the way it is designed. My wife and I like days around 15 miles and this book by day four has 20 plus miles per day but it looks easy to break three of their days into four for us. I like that they have towns and places to sleep for the places you pass thru on the map and in the description. I also like that there is a description for both the coastal trail and the inland trail above Porto.

Pros: Systematic. Easy to use.Most valuable info on routes, where to eat and where to stay. Prices and opening hours. Additionally the routes can be downloaded to a smartphone. In my iPhone X I have used the app Topo GPS. It has special map for Spain and OpenStreetMap for Portugal. Works fine.Cons: I would like some more info of historical and Christian matters or links to sites on the web.Some more links to interesting sites and I would give five stars.

The suggestions are straightforward and tips are very helpful. Thanks David and Ana for another wonderful Camino resource! Keep those books coming.

This is the second of a two-book series by Francine Rivers. The first one is "Her Mother's Heart." If you are a mother, have a mother, have a daughter, or love any of the above, this book will touch your heart. No fairy tale, these two books are very realistic about the struggles, hurt feelings, misunderstandings and grief often involved in the complicated relationships between mothers, daughters, granddaughters (and those who love them). Although sad in many places, it also reveals why those troublesome relationships are so worth it--the joy and laughter and strength a close-knit group can share.I'm always extra-critical of Christian writing since so much of it in the past was...well, awful. The influence of God in each of the lives chronicled in this story is inspiring and a vital part of this family. As always, Ms. Rivers' writing is so good it fades into the background until the reader is conscious only of the unfolding story without having to notice the grammatical mistakes, typos, awkward sentence structure and uneven character development of many published writers. I read the first book in a single day and couldn't wait to find this one, the second in the series. I highly recommend both.

I read both books and now I am grieving! I feel like dear friends have left me! There is a strong Christian message inthese books( both the positive and the negative), but the narrative of the story would move ANYBODY! Please, don't stop here!

Francine Rivera is by far my favorite author of all time. It all began with The Mark of the Lion series years ago when I had just discovered, as an adult, I actually enjoyed reading and Francine had a way of making you feel you were one of the characters in her novels. I have avoided this series as my own mother had shared it was heartbreaking to read. But I finally caved (and I had already devoured everyone of her other books) and mama was right... Heartbreaking doesn't begin to describe. I cried so much my head hurt for day but I'm so glad I did. It helped me see how with each generation we have a choice to speak up and share our stories as children with our children. I cherish the relationship i have with my amazing mother even more now. I love this second book in the Marta’s Legacy series! It could be read on its own but is definitely better to be read after the first book so you get the whole history. Francine Rivers is a great writer! She pulls you into her books so the characters become good friends! Her dialog is superb! I would heartily recommend this book to anyone!

I love this book and the way Francine Rivers takes her time to draw the reader in. I felt this book was written for those who are out there struggling with their family relationships, and the many questions of whys and why nots. Some who may feel unloved not realising they are the most love. We all should know that one thing your parents love us and if they don't just remember God loves us even more. But as for our parents, no matter what and they have done the best they could and know. We should not judge anyone but prayer for them as we see them struggling with life's circumstances and situations.The book also shows sometimes things that should be said goes unsaid causing the most pain, while framing and forming our personalities and opinions of others which is quite misunderstood. It also shows forgiveness and love can heal many broken wounds. It also depicts God truly has a master plan for our lives from the time we are conceived until death. We just have to ask and trust him.I love Francine Rivers as a writer because read her books from cover to cover. And to be honest I don't like reading but I always have pleasure reading her books!

In 2004, my mother gave me the Mark of the Lion series as a Christmas gift. At the time, I was a disappointed. "Ugh," I though, "Why in the heck would I want to read such drabble?""Wait," my mother said, "just give this a chance . . ."Bored with my winter vacation, I finally cracked open the first book two days after receiving the set. Seventeen hours later, I set down the last book, sated. I'd gone on a reading binge. That was not what happened with this two part series.Like I said in my previous review, no one can deny what a brilliant writer Francine Rivers is. The woman is amazing with plot lines, and an interesting read. She writes simplistically, but somehow it's sophisticated. She manages to get difficult plot points across without confusing the reader. Most of all, she is a compelling author, possibly one of the best Christian writers of all time. Perhaps she's one of the best writers that I've ever read. Her Mark of the Lion Series was supreme. This short series was not.In the second part, Francine Rivers focuses on the daughter and granddaughter of Marta. Once again, Rivers emphasizes the dissidence between the characters, the lack of respect that the younger has for the elder. Once again, Francine Rivers enjoys beating the reader into a bloody pulp, trying to make a point.I, the readerly, get it! Color me flabbergasted, Rivers makes the point over and over again that without communication and trust in God, good relationships cannot exist. Got it! Rivers is great, but the over-proselytizing and emphasis on communication skills was annoying.However, I still needed to complete the last book, which speaks to Rivers as a writer. Although, not her best, still the book is better than much of the reading material that I consume on a daily basis. Rivers is a great writer with fantastic ideas and amazing appeal. She is a quality writer. Although this is not HER best, she is still one of the best writers out there today, Christian or not.

I just finished reading this book and I love it. If you’ve read Susan Batson’s book, you’ll find that it shares the basic core, which is working from ‘The Need.’ However, as Warner points out, if you work from your own ‘Need,’ you’ll never really be the character, but rather, another version of yourself. BRAVO!You’ll learn how to create such a powerful backstory by looking for personality patterns, among many others, that will connect you to your character in such a way that you will simply click with the lines, the character, and all other aspects that acting requires.I highly recommend this book. Wow, Real Insights. The shortest chapter in the book, Base Human Emotion, is worth the purchase price. Useful on many levels.

Great reference for aspiring actors

Let's not get crazy. The book is fine. But is it the promised revolution? No. What is the technique? A clear, commonsense reading of given circumstances that the actor then extrapolates into imagined memories that help create and justify a pattern of behavior through the use of a "Base Human Emotion." While the book poo-poos the use of objective in the very first pages, the "Base Human Emotion" is no more or less than a simple objective, i.e. "the need for order" or "the need to be seen" or "the fear of conflict" which translated to need is "the need for peace."This all leads to the creation of a detailed, imagined memory that justifies the Base Human Emotion. But this isn't revolutionary. Lawrence Parke wrote extensively about this in his acting book in the 70's, and called it a "Neurosis Provoking Moment." And he got it from Vaktanghov. So - nothing new or revolutionary. Sorry.So, if you want another take on how excavation of given circumstances can lead an actor an imaginative implication with the text and the role, go for it. This book is a fair account of one kind of process. But if you're looking for the technique that will change how acting is taught for "generation to come!!!!!!!!!" Well... not quite.

I bought two of these wonderful books because as a director I have worked with many of Warners' students and have been so impressed by their acting ability, being able to get to the place and emotion that I need them to get to, and their professionalism, that I wanted one to keep on hand and one to give out to promising young actors that I run across.

An Entertaining book, that’s helpful and informative

This isn't just for actors (although I can only imagine that it would help a bunch). This is for anybody who has to go out and do something publicly - music artists (Luke Bryan, anyone?!), politicians (she doesn't kiss and tell, so we don't specifically who) and blockbuster Oscar winners (Ryan Reynolds, Amy Adams, Zooey Deschanel, etc.! The screen writers and those behind Disney Animation lean on her and her technique as well to create realistic characters. What a relief to understand if you "do your homework" as a performer, the passion need you will be there...no going back to your worst memories to find tears and angst for a closeup shot. Loved that she came to Nashville and did an event at Parnassus Books! She's as accessible in person as her book is. I found this very helpful and will take tips away for my own public appearances.

I am always in the market for good, really good, books on acting techniques. This is perfect for my theatre students. They will revel in the direction this book takes them in. It's short in length but to the point! I love the first important sentence, and I am quoting..".. Where is it written to be a gifted actor, you must be filled with rage or pain or strife." I fell in love with the author from here to the end. How heathy and fresh is this thinking!!! This book teaches one how to act like not and not become as well as learning how to get out of one's way. BRAVO to Warner Loughlin!!! FINALLY, a really really really fantastic book for actors and acting students!!!! I can't wait to order lots!!!
