Pass.. I wasn't interested in explaining to my toddler why the pilgrim's got sick and died from the harsh winter and the term savage Indians. Wouldn't recommend.
I got this book to use in my Thanksgiving unit in second grade Social Studies. The children really enjoyed the story and learning facts about Thanksgiving, the pilgrims, and Native Americans and it was written in such a way that it's easy for them to understand. It really helps teach a child the real meaning behind Thanksgiving and that we should be thankful for the things we have. The illustrations are colorful, bright, and detailed. A great intro for children about the first Thanksgiving!
I liked the simple explanation of the Thanksgiving story that this book gives, but it has some outdated language ("savage indians").
Very cute story. It's a great intro to the first Thanksgiving from the Pilgrims perspective. I recommend pairing this with a book from the Native American's perspective if you're buying it as part of a classroom series.
